Louvet![]()
At the upper bow of the middle part of the
neck (crochet side) the harp is branded with "J Louvet A Paris", which
refers to Jean Louvet (1718-1793). Due to the carvings of the harp as
well as the form of the instrument this harp should be made
approximately 1755.

This ERARD harp is not just a very beautiful
harp but also offers a very interesting historical background:
This harp has been played during the 3rd Reich at the ‘Wagner Festspiele at Bayreuth’ under the baton of Winifred Wagner The new owner of this harp will receive original documents partly signed by Winifred Wagner himself! Such documents are very rare and exclusive. No need to say that they make this instrument a real rarity. The engraving also shows a remarquable feature. The instrument was originally made for the Duke of Orleans ! This explains some specialities in the decoration of the harp as well as the engraving of the makers name ERARD FRERES (a detailed explanation will be given to the buyer) |
