The Thurau-Harfenmanufaktur is also specialized in the restoration of early pedal harps. By restoration we understand the conscientious and sincere preservation of technical, optical and acoustical qualities of an instrument while keeping as much of the orginal state as possible.

For restoration purposes, it's necessary to calculate the historical string tension to bring back the orginal timbre of the instrument.

Erard (neo-gothic-style)  This is a great example of an ERARD harp extensively restored by the Thurau-Harfenmanufaktur.  In the original condition the soundboard has been broken , 30% of the stucco was missing, the mechanism  was rusted, the varnish totally destroyd by heat and the gold plating was greenish of low-quality bronze.
